
Knock Old Castle
The restoration of Knock Old Castle was an ambitious project from the outset and was in such a state of disrepair, it was included in the Buildings at Risk Register. It was a major task in itself to stabilise the existing walls and prevent them from collapse before even considering turning the place back into a habitable property. Some of the more significant works carried out where as follows.

Stabilising the existing structure and making it good in order to start restoring roofs, floors windows etc and making the building wind and water tight.

Stone repairs, replacement and making good lime pointing etc.

Reconstruction of 3 Turrets and one on top of bespoke made circular timber kit.

Construction of new east extension within ruined castle walls to create living and dining spaces (oak super structure surrounded by timber kit).

Installation of bespoke glass elements (within turret, projecting glass box and hollow tree trunk window unit.

Installation of Sauna with domed internal roof.

Carving of animals into the corbels and coat of arms

The manufacture of internal wood finishing’s including stairs and furniture from wood feld in the estate. (including Oak, Witches Elm, Yew, Aspin, Munky Puzzle, Lime, etc)

Commissioning of wood chip boilers.
